Our story began out on the water. As a group of young naval officers, we first experienced the ocean in all its rawness, learning the ins and outs of boating while in the trenches. But with time, we genuinely fell in love with boating and the soulful, intimate, experience of it.

Though we each remained avid boaters, we went our separate ways to extensive careers in insurance, technology, entrepreneurship, and even a yacht dealership. And when we came back together years later, with a world of new experiences, but still passionate about boating, we knew we could make recreational boating more accessible and enjoyable for everyone through smart insurance solutions.

Our Vision

We decided to establish a new kind of insurance, one that provides innovative, modern coverage, with a proactive, holistic, offering. What evolved was more than next-level boat coverage; and way more than a must have expense. It was a technology-based insurance that provides all the tools a boater needs to proactively avoid risk and have peace of mind.

Amit Nisenbaum

Chief Executive Officer

A seasoned American/Israeli business leader and two-time start-up CEO who has built companies from scratch to success, Missile Frigate XO, and instructor at the Israeli Naval Academy, Amit earned his MBA at Cornell, and brings to the company years of tier-1 Strategy Consulting experience at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and decades of start-up experience leading ventures out of Israel and Silicon Valley. Amit is entrusted with Ahoy!’s vision and ensures it will be the most innovative and boater-centric company, set-up to thoughtfully scale from the get-go.

Kaenan Hertz

Chief Insurance Officer

Based in the NY, and with in-depth experience in insurance as a senior leader at USAA and Insurtech Advisors, Kaenan was also an EY Fintech practice leader. The author of a leading insurance industry blog, and a frequent guest expert on leading outlets like S&P Global, his happy place is either out on the water, or diving the deep blue. When he’s not doing that, he’s thinking up smart, innovative products and solutions and how they can best serve our clients.

Shachar Segev

Vice President of Engineering

In over 25 years of building and scaling enterprise technology operations, including VP roles at Aternity, Pontis, and in the US and Israel Teleknowledge, Shachar has proven to be a natural-born technology resource and team leader. He ensures that Ahoy!’s core insurance systems are the most efficient, effective, and secure, by implementing new-age technology and ensuring an ideal digital user-experience. Inspired by his years boating near Boston, Shachar is also an avid skipper and sailing instructor.

Bob Jones

VP Distribution and BD

A graduate of Western Kentucky University, Bob has worked with several of the top companies in the US including Progressive, GE and AAA. During his career he has been involved with various disciplines within the insurance industry; including claims, project management, product compliance, sales, and business optimization. Bob is responsible for adding new Ahoy! partners, while creating value-based, innovative and creative offerings that benefit those partners and members alike!
